About the Spectranet Unlimited Gold Plan

Here, we’ll talk about the details you need to know about the Spectranet Unlimited Gold plan. Without wasting much time, let’s dive into these details as specified by Spectranet.

  • The Unlimited Gold plan is a plan designed for heavy data users that live an active lifestyle and who want to always stay connected for one whole month to achieve all their business and personal tasks.
  • Access to 24/7 speedy internet connectivity on the network service.
  • A fair usage policy is applicable once you hit 100GB within the validity period.
  • The validity period is 30 days (1 month).
  • Existing customers (of other data plans) who migrate to the Unlimited Gold plan will have their unused data stored in their account and this will be credited back to them if they choose to return to their existing capped plan.
  • This plan is only available in Lagos and Ibadan for the time being.

For the sake of clarity for a curious mind who wants to know what the fair usage policy is; according to Spectranet FAQs, internet speed will be limited to FUP of 512 Kbps after you’ve crossed 100GB of data usage. However, in view of maintaining uniformity for all customers, Spectranet reserves the right to restrict download speed to 8 Mbps in the first usage of 100GB.

Cost of Spectranet Unlimited Gold Plan

Now that you’ve known the details of the Unlimited Gold plan, the next thing on your mind will be to know how much this plan costs. Going straight to the point, the Spectranet Unlimited Gold plan costs ₦18,000 for 1 month. Though this price tag may be seen as relatively high compared to other offerings from other ISPs however high it may seem, that’s the cost of the plan.

Missing Features of the Spectranet Unlimited Gold Plan

100GB of data is a really large amount of data. While an average user may not use up to half of the data, a heavy user may use close to 100GB or even exceed it. 100GB of data might seem really attractive but there’s a limit aside from the fair usage policy (FUP).

Most of the other Spectranet data plans have a provision for night browsing which means a user can surf, stream, download, and do anything with data between 1 a.m to 7 a.m—and this won’t affect the data bundle the user subscribed to.

But when compared to these data plans, the Unlimited Gold plan does not offer night browsing. If it happens that you wake up to do some surfing or streaming at 3 a.m, it will be reading till you reach the 100GB FUP. However, on some other Spectranet plans, one could end up using over 100GB in a month and not get the speed throttled.

Conclusion

The Spectranet Unlimited Gold plan is a plan for heavy users with its offering of 100GB of data (after which FUP applies) for 30 days which costs ₦18,000. In the first usage of 100GB, Spectranet reserves the right to limit download speed to 8 Mbps, but after you hit 100GB of data usage within the 30-day period, you’ll be restricted to a fair usage policy that will throttle your download speed to 512 Kbps.

One missing feature of this unlimited plan is that it doesn’t offer night browsing.  And as of the time of writing this article, this plan is only available to subscribers in Lagos and Ibadan.
